Food for Thought

It’s Raining Again!
Don’t complain you need rain to get rainbows! Open your eyes to God’s promises for He’s raining blessings on us again and again and again! They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness. Lam3:23: I have set my rainbow in the clouds, and it will be the sign of the covenant between me and the earth.Gen 9:13.

The Whirlpool of Life.
When seemingly everyone around you is being tossed around whilst you in the middle are calm; could it be that you are in the eye of the storm? One step in any direction can fling you into the clutches of the whirlpool that everyone else seems to be in. Stand firm in God! God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea, though its waters roar and foam and the mountains quake with their surging. / “Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.” The Lord Almighty is with us; the God of Jacob is our fortress.
Psalm 46.                                                    Please also read Psalm 91.

The Road Ahead.
Looking at the road ahead in Life, full of obstacles, overgrown and tangled with thorns; it’s easy to feel we’ve lost our way, wandered from the Right Way that was our well worn path.We all stray at times yet we persevere, get back on track and not give up.                      Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith. Heb 12:1-2

High Flyers
In worldly terms you may be ‘successful’ – a ‘high flyer’. Eventually, regardless of our station in life we will all face God and where we’ve set our priorities on earth will affect our position in heaven. Will you, regardless of earthly success, be flying high with the angels?“I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven; whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.” Matt 16:19 & 6:21  For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.”

Water, Water Everywhere.
Everyone needs water to live. In the ‘physical’ it’s so often feast or famine – people dying of thirst or drowning in floods. Spiritually, water represents the Holy Spirit. We can thirst for the Spirit or live in the Spirit - even ‘drown’ in the Spirit, though unlike physical water, we can never have too much!Jesus stood and said in a loud voice,’ Let anyone who is thirsty come to me and drink. Whoever believes in me, as Scripture has said, rivers of living water will flow from within them.’John 7:37-38

Are You Hurting?
Our Father does not want us to suffer physical or mental anguish, pain or anxiety. He wants us to find peace. If you are hurting, inside or out, use these words – they work!
Come to me, all you who are weary and heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble of spirit, and I will give you rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” Matt 11:28

                       Come Rain or Shine.
Is thinking of God and going off to pray the first thing you do after getting up each morning, come rain or shine?
That’s what Jesus did.
Very early in the morning, while it was still dark, Jesus got up, left the house and went off to a solitary place, where he prayed.  Mk 1:35     and all the people came early in the morning to hear him at the temple. Luke 21:36

Bending With The Wind.
To remain upright and not fall, trees need deep roots to anchor them so they can bend and not break when strong winds blow – so do we!           Pride goes before destruction, a haughty spirit before a fall. Prov 16:18

Be An Angel.
Angels are messengers of God. So be an angel!
Jesus instructed His disciples: As you go proclaim this message ‘The Kingdom of Heaven is near.’
Mat 10:7
